24th B'day BBQ Party
Tuesday, January 15, 2008

Alright, finally not feeling so lazy anymore. Been 3 days since I had just organized a barbecue outing by the seaside behind Rasa Sayang hotel. It was indeed a memorable night. Many of my pals attended. Could've been more but some just couldn't make it. And also it was due to my "genius" act of updating my hand phone software, hence I lost some contacts in my phone book. Some of them who attended was out of my expectation.

Weather was kind to me I might add. Been concerned about the rainy skies for the past week. I set the time at 6.30 p.m that evening, but the night only got started an hour later. Lots of latecomers on that evening. Tsk tsk. But I was no exception either. Heh.

James & Kelly were the early birds on that evening. These 2 lovebirds were the earliest one to leave too. Known this dude since pre puberty days. Thanks for the credit card holder, man. Been looking for a card holder for some time.

These 2 here are also my friggin' long time pals from the primary schooling days. Could hear them talking about politics all night long as long as "Dato Leong" wasn't drunk. A big hug to the future politician for coming all the way from K.L. And also Vince for the nice Polo presents that you guys gave me.

Alex, Siew Hui, Hoe , Me, Kelvin, Seong & Wei Wen. I was in between a prick and a cameraman. You do the guessing on who's who.

This time with Sin Peng in the mid. I just had to keep his hands off the camera before he irritates the girls with candid shots. He accused me of not entertaining him and felt "hurt". I knew he was kidding but I was busy going around the place to check if the food's ok and to get the buddies gel into the different groups. Didn't wanna make some of them feel awkward and left out.

There's my cousin sipping on the sparkling apple juice. A lot of them enjoyed the sparkling apple & grape juice so much that those 3 or 4 bottles went empty within an hour or so. Should have bought more of those. Glad you guys liked it.

Even though the chickens were marinated just several hours before the outing, they didn't taste as bad as I had thought it would be. Those who ate the chickens gave good comments. Don't believe it? Look... LoL..

Most of them loved the cheese sausages, yet they dropped a few of it. In the end all of them kept digging for the cheese ones and left the normal ones unfinished. Some very choosy people there.

Got this J.D whiskey from the bar back at home. Some said it tasted weird. Didn't finish it in the end.

Meet Jane & Chong Uwan, my two wonderful assistants. Knew them when I was still in the logistics department of Sony. They helped me prepared most of the food while the others kept chatting away, oblivious to what the host was preparing. But they all came scrambling for the food when I called out for them to choose whatever that's on the table . Sheesh~

A shot with my assistant, just to do the best I could to make him feel not not awkward and left out among the groups of peeps.

Looks like someone's enjoying himself with the beer. Managed to get himself in the mood for clubbing later that night.

Shun Yit helping himself to the chickens and crab sticks. As usual I suspect he was the one who ate the most portion of the food.

Now if there's one thing to learn from this lady here, it's how to sit on a rock for hours without feeling pain. Was concerned about her sitting on that hard spot all night so I asked her to move to the bench but she insisted on sitting there eating her food. I could feel my ass hurt just by imagining it.

Look~! I caught Seong peeping into Alex's shorts. LoL.

feasting on the chicken wings & drum sticks...

chatting about their love life...?

Then came the cake cutting part where my buddies around me sang the old, traditional birthday song once the candles were lit up. I have a short clip of it but I don't think it's possible to post up here.

And my wish would be.........

They made me pick out the candles with my mouth. They claimed that if i don't do it i won't grow =.=' I knew they were definitely kidding me but what the heck.

I expected my face to be shoved onto the cake but I NEVER thought i would go so deep. Haha.

For the first time in my life i felt as though i had a sweet face.. literally~!

There's the @sshole that got my face covered with cheese cake. I didn't see it but apparently Chong Uwan took a bit of the cake and revenged for me :-D

My plain & simple birthday cake with missing letters. The word "happy" looks kinda faded there. Contrary to what I felt that night of course. Was very delighted to have so many of my pals accompanying me.

This was after i buried my face into the cake. I heard someone said there was hair in it. Well that's what you get if you shove a hairy guy's face onto a cake. LoL~

I still can't figure out how this shot was taken by whoever it was that night. It's either the camera has a secret feature of see through human body or my friend there started to disappear when I asked him to clean up the place :-P

getting ready to get a proper group shot... see how my "dato" friend sat in the middle?

taken by ah Juuuu~

still can't get a clear shot... thanks to the sweaty hands of Seong..

this time it was taken by Ah Yit, who got the nickname "Mr. Nipple" that night. my eyes seemed to be getting more and more irritated by the flash lights.

the clearest shot out of the lot. taken by Vince before he left..

...and finally a toast to a brand new year and to a long lasting friendship. A big sincere "thank you" to all of you who made it that night as well as those who surprisingly showed up beyond my expectation. Thanks also for the pleasant birthday gifts, guys. I really did not expect this many presents that night. The most important thing was that you guys showed up and gladly you did.

After leaving the beach I headed out for supper and to catch Man United' match with Newcastle. Was very lucky indeed to be able to witness 5 goals in the second half.

Final score ... a 6-0 victory to the club i support. Couldn't ask for a better showing than that. What a way to end a night full of laughter, joy and senseless jokes.

Goodbye 2007, Hello 2008~

Finally I'm back from home from the exhausting traffic congestion and the extremely ruthless crowds. Strange though because this new year's eve wasn't as "hyped up" as the previous one. Wanted to have my last meal at Chili's but alas, it wasn't to be.

While driving on the way to have dinner, there was this annoying china man who seemed to be impatient to get through this new year's eve night.

the uncivilized china man..

We headed to Gurney right after we've done with the meal. It was friggin' packed like a can of sardines so having a drink at Chili's was out of the question. We were lucky enough to have found an empty table at Starbucks. Felt kinda disappointed as I was considering which flavour of frappuccino to pick. I wanted to try the margarita at Chili's~!

By 11.40 p.m or so we were already by the road side among the crowds, anticipating the much awaited fireworks. Some people can already be seen toying around with party sprays. I remember I bought one and played with it last year. Didn't feel like it this year. Guess I was in no mood to bully.

Walked around the place and took some random shots of the crowd. For a moment there I thought I smell something from the party sprays, then I realised it wasn't. The cops were probably spraying something to disperse the crowd of youngsters. It smelt so awful that I had to retreat further away from the overcrowded street.

The cops on bikes rode through the hordes of people to keep them from covering the road completely. I couldn't stop smiling to myself when the rebellious lads threw bottles at the cops. I tried to take a clear shot at it but it happened too fast and unexpectedly. Would've been a real scene if some glass bottles were to hit those cops. At times like these, I'm just glad that I didn't park the car around there. I wonder if the owners of the cars there could enjoy the fireworks without taking their eyes off their vehicles :-P

Some Indian dude couldn't wait for the fireworks to start so he lit up the red long crackers for us to watch before the main "dish".

Fake snow in Penang.

Now comes the main event of the night...

3 stooges behind a pathetic overdue christmas tree

can't believe I took a pic with that tree...

Can't wait for the elevator so we took a short exercise running up the stairs..

Resting at GSC after running up to 6 levels of staircase.

Casual beggar..

Gasping for air..

goodbye two-oh-oh-seven~

It has been plenty of ups and downs for me in 2007. Time flies by so fast that it's the only thing in the world that freaks me out, without needing to touch it, see it or feel it. Whatever it is that's in store for us in this brand new year, I wish it would be a prosperous one & full of surprises.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'll start pondering on the new year ahead of me as I catch my much needed Z's.

To all my loved ones & friends, have a joyous new year blessed with good health.
