Walked down the stairs again, this time to see where she was. At the living room she was sitting, just done folding some clothes while watching the t.v. It's something I see every single day when she's at home. She's already in her early 50's yet she still hardly looks old to me. Must be the daily morning exercise she had all this while. She was just quietly getting on with the chore as I was approaching her. Must've thought that I was going out to spend the weekend with some friends because of the way I was dressed. I just voiced up and told her that we're going out to eat. To Gurney. She was staring blankly at me for a second or two. I guess I got her by surprise. I didn't forget what today was.
She just obliged and went up to her room to change. Not long later we were out on the road, on the way to have lunch together. We talked a bit about my work while I was driving. As usual, I got some advice from her regarding financial stuff and other boring stuff that I've heard before long ago. Reached the place soon after that and headed straight to that stretch of food outlets. While walking along the shops, she asked me what did I wanna eat. I just told her that it's her choice. We browsed through the outlets there and she finally decided to walk into *cough* DÔME *cough* Of all the shops, it had to be that one. Sigh.
She ordered her food with latte to be served after meal. Whenever that place has latte, she would place it in the order. Latte lover indeed. After we were done with the meals, I asked for the bill, paid for it and felt a slight pain up my ass. I'm already on a budget here and now this treat. Not that I'm complaining, was just choking a bit. Kidding. We spent a few hours walking around the mall before we got home.
She's been living with me for all my life. She's the one who took care of me thru sickness all these years. Even though we may not and probably never will agree on everything we had in mind, she has always been supportive of me when it comes to serious matters such as work and studies.
For all these years of endless support and countless advice, thank you from the bottom of my heart. And this one is for you.
I Love You, Mom
